Acceptance speech

… to the Dalai Lama and to Franz Riklin who earns a posthumous salute as to the late Robert Smyth Baden-Powell, Badouin van den Branden de Reeth, Tchang Tchong-jen, France Ferrari and Émile-Joseph Porphyre Pinchon. I would like to thank Joost Swarte, officer in the order of Orange-Nassau, for his exceptional courage and inspiration. But above all I want to thank Raymond De Becker and all other wonderful people of the amazing Soir Volé who, in those dark days of atrocities, welcomed my dearest friend Georges with open arms…. Thank you! And... Good Night!


Eigenaardig was het overigens wel dat Spielberg de ongemakkelijke naam van de secretaris van Hergé (De Reeth) probleemloos over de tong liet rollen, maar struikelde over het simpele Joost dat ongeveer klonk als Djoehoest! Wie de opname nog eens goed beluistert, hoort daarna verschillende genomineerden in de zaal Bless you! zeggen.
